Blending Rooms Together
If your living room opens up to your dinning room, make sure the space flows as one. Use the same accent colors to blend the rooms together will give it a more open feel. Think about new fabric for your old chairs or maybe using slip covers to tie the rooms together. The colors don't have to be the same, just the same color palete.

Clean - Simple - Modern
Have a large boring white wall? Add a pop of color or use a modern wallpaper. If you don't want your TV to stick out, consider painting the wall a dark color. If you are not into wallpaper, you can stencil or use wall sticker decals. Balance the room by placing a dark sofa opposite of the wall and all other furnishing should be kept light and airy. If you like dark sofas, then use light bright accents and keep the walls light and airy.
Illusions
If you have a large sofa, paint your wall the same color or a slightly darker shade in the same color family. This will give the illusion that your sofa is smaller. Use white or light color accent pieces to pop against the dark wall for a visual contrast between wall and sofa.
